Droitwich Waterways (Pamela May) Trust was established in 2011 just before the opening of the Barge Canal and the Junction Canal, connecting to the River Seven and the Worcester to Birmingham Canal. The trust’s aim is to promote the preservation of the Droitwich Canals, a historic heritage waterway, and to promote the enhancement of its environment. The first Pamela May boat was launched in 1994 and named Pamela after the wife of Bernard Clements and May after May Ward, both generously donating large sums of money to enable a community boat to be built. A new Pamela May 2 was launched in April 2019 and is also fully equipped for disabled passengers and bookings are welcomed from Care, Residential and Nursing Homes, Day Centres and Special Interest Groups. As a community boat social groups, families and youth groups are also welcomed. Arrangements can be made for special occasions e.g. weddings and anniversaries. The boat is crewed and maintained by qualified volunteers.
